What are some advantages of being able to see an image right after you’ve taken it (such as with an instant camera or being able to review the image on a digital camera)?

Simple. You get to view the image before printing or processing. That way you know if it's a good shot or not.

I think Sadie has it on the dot. You get to know if there was someone photobombing, or if something was obstructing the shot. It allows for more thorough photographing instead of winging it.
