I would assume the answer is Carbohydrates. Plants produce this in the process of photosynthesis for food(sugar). The first place the carbohydrates start to be broken down are as soon as they reach the mouth, in which the saliva in your mouth starts to break it down. The next place is the small intestine, then finally in the stomach it is fully dissolved. This is because all of these areas contain a chemical known as amylase, which is in our saliva as well.
