well ur just putting the frations in the number line like 25/3 equals 8.333

the number line goes from 5 to 15 . The larger divisions go up in 1's and each 1 is split up into 1/3 's so 8 1/3 ( = 8.333..) is 3 large divisions + 1 small after the 5.
