In William Shakespeare's play Twelfth Night, twins Viola and Sebastian are often confused for each other, as Viola dresses like a man to gain employment in a lady's household. How does this confusion most likely affect the play? As part of the rising action, it creates humor and surprise because of the confused identities. As the climax, it reveals that Viola is not really Sebastian's twin. As part of the exposition, it creates tension between Viola and Sebastian. As the resolution, it proves that women and men should never dress in each other's clothing.

It says that they are twins though. Why would the question lie to us?

I would agree in that it's one of the likely possibilities, but we don't know if any tension is created, so we can't assume this. Remember, it's asking us "How does this confusion most likely affect the play?" 'Most likely' The question states that "twins Viola and Sebastian are often confused for each other" Therefore I would agree with A. "As part of the rising action, it creates humor and surprise because of the confused identities." It's the only one that talks about a plausible outcome of the confusion, which is humorous.
