Why dont asteroids hit the earths surface

ILovePuppiesLol:

because we are lucky as hell

ILovePuppiesLol:

also gravity

ILovePuppiesLol:

also breaking down upon impact of our atmosphere

JustSaiyan:

Actual, gravity would pull them towards us, not push them away. I am letting ghost answer this, she loves space.

ILovePuppiesLol:

cuz u know it gets rlly hot so the asteroids break down

563blackghost:

They do EVERYDAY. It's just the larger known ones only hit at an average of 70,000 years i think >.> not sure doe...

ILovePuppiesLol:

asteroids don't hit, meteorites do

JustSaiyan:

Actually, an Asteroid is a rock that orbits the sun in the Asteroid belt, but every so often there is a collision and knocks one or two out, and once their size is cut, they become meteoroids, and then as soon as they enter the earths atmosphere, they are meteors.

JustSaiyan:

In other words, they are all a space rock.
