How would I do both these questions?
About to go eat breakfast. Perhaps @Sam or @dude can be of assistance.
To find what variable you are looking at, look at the first sentence
"if a relationship exists between the number of children of a president has and their longevity after inauguration" Specifically on this part
I'm confused....
Hi hello so as dude mentioned, the instructions say to look at the relationship between (the number of children) and (how long they live after being inaugurated) specifcally, looking at the table: (the number of children) = (number of sons) + (number of daughters) (how long they live after being inaugurated) = (age of death) - (age at inauguration)
Oh, yes.
so we can come up with numbers for each president: format: (President); (number of children); (how long they live after inauguration) Washington; 0 children; 10 years Adams; 5 children; 29 years Jefferson; 6 children; 26 years Madison; 0 children; 28 years Monroe; 2 children; 16 years JQ Adams; 4 children; 23 years Jackson; 0 children; 17 years Van Buren; 4 children; 25 years W Harrison; 10 children; 0 years Tyler; 14 children; 20 years Polk; 0 children; 4 years Taylor; 6 children, 1 year Fillmore; 2 children, 24 years Pierce; 3 children; 16 years Buchanan; 0 children; 12 years Lincoln; 4 children; 4 years A Johnson; 5 children; 10 years Grant; 4 children; 17 years Hayes; 8 children; 16 years Garfield; 7 children, 0 years Arthur; 3 children; 6 years Cleveland; 5 children; 24 years B Harrison; 3 children; 12 years McKinley; 2 children; 4 years T Roosevelt; 6 children; 18 years Taft; 3 children; 21 years Wilson; 3 children; 11 years Harding; 0 children; 2 years Coolidge; 2 children, 9 years Hoover; 2 children, 36 years F Roosevelt; 6 children; 12 years Truman; 1 child, 28 years Eisenhower; 2 children, 16 years Kennedy; 3 children, 3 years LB Johnson; 2 children, 9 years Nixon; 2 children, 25 years Ford; 4 children, 32 years Reagan; 4 children; 24 years
Question 1: What variable are you looking at? Re-reading what I posted before again, what columns of the provided table (name them) are we using? \(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @Angle Hi hello so as dude mentioned, the instructions say to look at the relationship between (the number of children) and (how long they live after being inaugurated) specifcally, looking at the table: (the number of children) = (number of sons) + (number of daughters) (how long they live after being inaugurated) = (age of death) - (age at inauguration) \(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{End of Quote}}\)
number of children And how long they live after inauguration
?
correct :)
So that would be the answer for number one?
yup!
Oh, okay.
in general, they want to know: does having more children make presidents die earlier from the stress of raising children? so (how long they live after inauguration) is dependent on (number of children) does that make sense?
Yes, kinda.
Yea
cool, so for the second question, (how long they live after inauguration) is the label for the y axis and (number of children) is the label for the x axis
Okay
And that would be it for number 2?
they want us to plot the points though which is why I took the time to write out the values for each president above
Ohhhhh yes.
for example, Tyler had 14 children and lived 20 years after inauguration so we can put a dot on the graph like this https://prnt.sc/ivy3i5
|dw:1521936460332:dw|
Ohhhhh, so then i'll do the same for the rest. Right?
exactly :)
And then that would be it
well you would still have to answer if there is: (no correlation), a (positive correlation), or a (negative correlation)
you can compare your dots to an example like this to decide: |dw:1521936580611:dw|
Ohhhhhhh okay, thank you so much for your time!
no problem ^_^ feel free to tag me if you get stuck or need any more help ^_^
