If heat could flow to the container, how would the final temperature be affected?

this is about the hot iron and water problem right anyway, if the heat could flow to the container that means that some of the heat from the iron wouldn't have been available to heat up the water, having what kind of affect (increasing or decreasing) on the temperature change?

think of it this way: if the heat from the iron gets lost to the container it can't affect the water as much making the final temperature of the water a little lower than we originally calculated
