if you take a look at the unit circle, the angles are multiples of 30/60/45, etc. that correspond to the 30-60-90 triangle and the 45-45-90 triangles, which have specific side ratios that makes it easier to calculate the side lengths, and thus the cos/sin values each coordinate on the unit circle is given as a function of (costheta, sintheta) so you would use the x and y-coordinates to find cos and sin then calculate tan based on that
