Approached a lake, carved from majesty
The banks made of humble apathy
Royals stones, lying in warm rays
All shadows — helplessly foregone

Jagged characters lie there too
Twisted in forms that speak of loon
Though upon those bodies, of torn make
Smooth stones breath...to live upon the lake

One caught my eye, thou could say it shy
But it’s shine did align with the rays of the sky
Torn away from thoughtlessly wrought stone
It radiated with purpose — it felt like home

It’s form made it easy to grasp,
Though it’s texture made it complexity to last
The avenues of its colours, symphony of its sound
An arena of intrigue, a fairground I had found

This curvature bespoke of a destiny
So I took it’s breath, and gave it my best
And to the surface of the lake, I sent that stone
The first ripple woke the plant life, resonated true
A second came momentarily, the animals knew too
Something special had met the water,
It felt like the Earth would shatter
For it had gravity — it could be the moon

Though it never did make it to the other side,
Upon its third touch, it sank without time
Into the darkness of an apathetic lake,
Perhaps it’s just a rock, reflecting the sun bright
Now eclipsed in the shadows, never to be divined

An emblem stared through the rising flames
Condescending smiles, liken to infamous dames
Dashing beauty, fleeting glory,
That flag to take into the morning
It tore my heart from its pedestal,
In a rush to meet the heat of finality
Those strands of gold were deathly files,
Through my fingers sifted, losing thought in their miles
And in this trance, of a creature of nature
Ignorant I was, to the heat of the embers
Burning being, existence like this was dreaming
Lost in the reverie, into the horizon this shadow fleed
