this is a memorization based question, but a short circuit happens when there is a great excess of current caused by a sudden decrease in resistance (D)

zarkam21:

Which circuit shows a power source connected in series to three resistors?

Vocaloid:

are you familiar with the definitions of series circuits vs parallel circuits?

zarkam21:

Could you just go over the definition and difference

zarkam21:

So C?

Vocaloid:

notice how series are all on the same main wire while parallel circuits have their circuit elements arranged in a parallel set of wires so yeah C

C

Vocaloid:

good (had to look this one up myself ;;)

zarkam21:

B

Vocaloid:

not quite, since these resistors are in series you just need to add them up, so 10 + 20 + 30 = 60 ohms

Not sure about this one.

Vocaloid:

charge per second = current, so we are looking for ammeters which must be in series so A+B (answer choice C)

D

Vocaloid:

actually for the other one I think it might actually be A + C? :S

zarkam21:

Already submitted that, its alright =)

Vocaloid:

I'm actually not sure on this one myself

zarkam21:

@Shadow @sillybilly123

Vocaloid:

anyway for the lightbult question, any thoughts? they're all in series

zarkam21:

D

zarkam21:

Because if one goes out they all will?

Vocaloid:

good, all the bulbs go out

good

Vocaloid:

I think that's it too (not sure but that's my best guess too)

zarkam21:

Vocaloid:

that's a good attempt but not quite you need to calculate the total resistance by adding up the resistance and calculate the current based on that, since all resistors in series have equal current

zarkam21:

C

Vocaloid:

80 is the resistance not the current V = IR, if voltage is 120 and resistance is 80 what's the current?

zarkam21:

OH A

Vocaloid:

good
