How do you think photography has influenced your life?

zarkam21:

@Shadow @Vocaloid @563blackghost @JustSaiyan

Ultrilliam:

That's really a question you need to answer on your own, as photography is in the eye of the beholder.

DanielleLove:

its a way to maintain memories, even if they are not your own. Also it captures moments in time that no one would believe you saw but you have the evidence to do so, like a sunrise, the ocean, etc.

DanielleLove:

its also a communal thing, like at family event everyone will get close together to appear in the picture, and it has become so much a part of culture that everyone takes pictures and learns how to pose for them in order to look their best lol.

Shadow:

I think that both @Ultrilliam and @DanielleLove have provided adequate answers, but to a different question. And that's as to where we derive the meaning of photographs from. But it is from that meaning that photographs have influence on you. Jay's answer essentially says that meaning is in the eye of the beholder. That couldn't be more true. I could show you a photograph of a tree, and it may mean nothing to you. But perhaps it was one that I had planted together with my family. Different meanings, thus differing influences. You may go about your day undisturbed, but to me that tree would remind me of collaboration with loved ones, and such hard work creating something beautiful. As Danielle said, it captures moments from time and preserves them. I would say photography has the greatest influence in moments of reflection, when images allow the past to rush to the present and can seemingly relive it. Such is a reason why we preserve good and powerful memories, to preserve that meaning and relive it.

Nice answers from all of you! I believe that photography is a part of the human life cycle now. It has influenced me because it captures so many spontaneous and mesmerizing things that something is too fast for eyes to remember. I love the idea of photography and the beauty it captures. It gives you a different outlook on life, I believe.
