Does the wage gap exist? @YoursTruly
Duh.
Why do you think so?
Sexism, obviously. It's not because we do a bad job at work or that we don't care.
There have been several studies on the wage gap. Do you agree that it is said to be 77 cents on the dollar (woman to men ratio) ?
It doesn't matter how big the gap is, honestly. It's the fact that there's a gap in the first place.
you get what you work for? less work, less money!! simple.
Well, what matters is the reasoning for the gap. The fact is that this gap exists because women want it to. As it stands, women go into lower paying jobs in society. They don't do it because they like low wages, they do it because they enjoy it. If you look at the top paying majors in college, men dominate those industries. If you look at the lowest paying majors in college, women dominate those. Such jobs are that of nursing, teaching, social work, and so on. Men go into careers such as engineering and medicine, which pays more. Additionally, men are what you would calling psychology, more disagreeable. It's a personality trait that makes a human less likely to conform to standards that are imposed on them. An example of this would be a low paying job. They are more likely to talk to their boss for higher wages. Women are less likely, since they are statistically more agreeable.
Men are also more likely to move to a different city that pays more for the same job. Women are less likely to do so.
When studies done start to incorporate these factors into the 'wage gap' it starts to disappear. Most bring it only to a couple cents. For others it goes *poof*
women are more likely to switch a boy than move to another city for a job.
Women also take more time off work, and men are more likely to stay at the job even when life is calling (family, typically). This makes them more reliable in the workplace. Employers reward that.
Let me know if you want the sources for these facts.
thank you shadow!!
That makes sense, but take a woman who is devoted to her job, would uproot her life and move for that job AND doesn't have a significant other to potentially have kids with. There's still a gap. She works just as hard as her male counterpart works but still gets payed less than he does. What's the justification for that? She works the same hours and does everything he does for as long as he does. Explain that.
77 cents on the dollar doesn't incorporate that. It takes all of women's earnings, and divides it by all of males earnings. That's literally all it is. See how it can miss variables, such as a hard working woman? Women are more likely to be agreeable, but that doesn't mean women can't be disagreeable. There are women out there who make more then men, Oprah Winfrey for example. Why didn't other hard working talk show hosts become billionaires? Must be sexism, right? No. People make different life choices, and different decisions. Everyone may have been working hard, but people put in different intensities of hard work, and take up different opportunities. Your example is anecdotal. And I wouldn't say that sexism doesn't exist in America, I just don't think that the 77 cents on the dollar screams racism. I just think that women happen to enjoy other jobs that don't pay well.
Edit for slight grammar error^
But we're talking about the SAME job. It isn't about less work, less money like Glock keeps saying it is.
and racism -> sexism Was just thinking about the other argument too, lol
Even if the gap was reduced, pennies make a big difference in the end. What do you think of that? We're still being paid less than a coworker, yet we minimized it.
Yes, for same jobs, women take more time off, don't negotiate for higher wages, and don't move to states that pay more for that job,
states/cities
This has been an interesting debate. I'll be sure to use this information to my advantage to destroy my competition.
Lol

Gracias. I'll look them up later.
No problem. Glad we had a cordial conversation.
If the wage gap exists, how come men don't hire only women in offices. It would be certainly cheaper.
This post is old, but you should check out the sources.
Ben Shapiro is a legend, and YoursTruly probably didn't ready any of those links.
You should add a little bit of Steven Crowder.
