How can the lassez-faire doctrine be described?

instead of allowing the government of a nation restrict its commerce by placing regulations and legislation, the laissez faire policy of economics says that the nation's economy should be left on its own. So when the economy faces a recession, laissez faire says eventually the free market will be able to experience growth. Let the business cycle happen without gov't intervention basically.
