trashhh:

can someone help me with a written response that has to be two paragraphs long.

Shadow:

On what?

trashhh:

heres the passage: https://prnt.sc/j2m0xh its about president obama and global warming for hawaii and heres the promp: https://prnt.sc/j2m12t

trashhh:

@Shadow

Shadow:

So, we need to identify his purpose, how he uses rhetoric to advance/support that purpose, all whilst incorporating examples/quotes from the text to reinforce our stance.

Shadow:

Did you read the speech?

trashhh:

yes

Shadow:

What do you think President Obama was trying to accomplish with that speech?

trashhh:

trying to tell the citizens that no place is ever safe from climate change but we can do our best to slow i down by making changed to the way we live

Shadow:

How do you think he used words to accomplish that?

Shadow:

This falls under the rhetoric question.

trashhh:

by telling the people they're using clean energy now instead of dirty energy???

trashhh:

and 50% of the U.S would be using clean energy by 2025

Shadow:

His last paragraph contains some imagery. The whole hitting the brakes so you we don't go over the cliff scenario.

trashhh:

so thats his rhetoric to support his argument?

Shadow:

Well his purpose was to inform the people at the assembly about the importance of doing something about the growing threat of climate change. He iterated the importance by giving examples of current ongoing threats, and then used the imagery to encourage the people to do something about it.

trashhh:

i understand what youre saying, but, idk how i would fit that into two complete paragraphs

Shadow:

Basically what you said, then support it by quoting parts of the speech and stating what effect it has/why Obama brings it up.

trashhh:

okay thank you so much for the help. i was completely lost before

Shadow:

No problem. Let me know if you need further help.
