zarkam21:

Make a drawing of the electric field lines around a positive charge, then make a second drawing of the electric field lines around a negative charge.

Shadow:

Do you know if an electric field is a vector or scalar quantity?

zarkam21:

scalar

Shadow:

Mhm, it is a vector

zarkam21:

oh

zarkam21:

I thought it was but then I searched on google and it told me this

Shadow:

That's because positive/negative charges can create an electrostatic force. And force is a vector quantity. The electric field for a positive charge is outward, and for a negative charge it is inward.

Yeah, I guess i didn't read all of it

zarkam21:

Got it and the draeing would be something like this right

Shadow:

Like what?

Shadow:

All I see is a blue positive charge and red negative charge.

zarkam21:

this would be correct right

Shadow:

Yes

Shadow:

If future questions, they may ask you how these two interact when close together. The vectors simple 'connect' due to the attractive force created between them. When they are the same charge, the vectors bend away from each other.

Shadow:

Due to the repulsive force.
