WAIT WHAT
Excerpt: On Tuesday, Starbucks announced that the company is going to close over 8,000 stores across the United States next month "to conduct racial-bias education geared toward preventing discrimination in our stores." The announcement from Starbucks comes after a video went viral last Thursday that showed two black males getting arrested in a store in Philadelphia. In response, social justice warriors launched a boycott of Starbucks and the company has now decided to close thousands of store locations next month to conduct "racial-bias education."
Don't know if anyone heard about the video
Where are you guys getting your coffee now? xD
Nowhere
Local coffee shop
How do two people getting arrested make them raciest?
DUNKIN DONUTS: COOLATTE. MAYBE A CAFE. IDK IDK. Well, I have my own coffee tbh. I can make me some coffee ^~^
This is a nightmare
pshhhh theres tons around here ill find a starbucks
The story, as I know it, is that two black guys went into a Starbucks. They didn't order anything, but used the bathroom. You can't use the bathroom without ordering anything. They were asked to leave. The two black guys told Starbucks that they were waiting for a friend, but Starbucks still insisted that they leave. Friend arrived as the two black guys were being arrested as Starbucks had called the police.
That is not necessarily raciest and they were not following rules. I get they are breaking a law but its not really an important or harmful one. They should have been removed from the store but the arrest is to far
\(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @Shadow Where are you guys getting your coffee now? xD \(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{End of Quote}}\) Dunkin Donuts. e.e
In my eyes, the two black guys violated store policy...so I doubt that it was racism. There is always the possibility that the Starbucks manager was racist, but more investigation is needed for that.
Personally, I brew my own coffee.
"You can't use the bathroom without ordering anything." .....
Or he could go to another country and get us some coffee :') #problemsolved.
What if yew really have to go? e.e
I agree with you Shadow
^ genius
Im jumping Trump's wall, who wants starbucks? O:
@Nnesha It's common practice that stores have you purchase something in order to use their facilities, as they are typically only for customers.
Me!
Anyone think that the Starbuck employees were racist? Apparently they got fired.
never heard of that policy
Yeah, they just want $$$. But makes sense since by using their facilities, you are taking cash out of their company. Flushing, washing hands, blow dryer, paper towels, etc (water, electricity, supplies).

Yeah, I know plenty that let you just walk in.
Curious though, if anyone agrees with the Twitter storm, that Starbucks was being racist.
\(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @Shadow Where are you guys getting your coffee now? xD \(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{End of Quote}}\) My dad
Most business like that will not let you just walk in.
He makes some gooooood coffee
West, what kind? Black or with milk n sugar?
Milk and sugar But I use creamer
Mhm, honestly, Starbucks coffee is overpriced for profit margins. You can easily make good coffee at home
Yeah, I mostly get a vanilla bean Frappe.
Agreed. My sister in law pays a lot just for their coffee, but can also make home made coffee twice as better and less expensive.
Yes, perhaps this is good for America. Not sure if anyone knows about this, but Starbucks actually engaged in anti-competition practices. They did this by putting as many of their shops in commercial areas to choke out other businesses. That's why you see so many of them.
True. Also many people don't know but the Starbuck's logo is satanic and also the designs they put in the coffee is too.
Yeah, just found an article for the anti competition practices. Actually turned into a lawsuit: http://money.cnn.com/2006/09/26/news/companies/starbucks/ Excerpt: "Stafford says Starbucks also used methods such as having employees offer free drink samples in front of her store to lure away customers, which she says ultimately forced her to closer her store." Offering free samples in front of other peoples shops is pretty low.
"The suit contends the world's largest specialty coffee retailer also used other predatory tactics nationwide including offering to buy out competitors at below-market prices and threatening to open nearby stores if the offer is rejected. "It is clear to us that Starbucks' game plan is to completely dominate a market by forcing out competition, something they've done quite well in the Seattle area," Berman added. "We also believe that this scorched-earth approach is happening in many other major markets across the U.S.""
Never liked coffee, so I don't see what's "good" about it. There are like legit 4 in our small town and they're always crowded ._.
Smells like black privilege honestly
Companies even when abiding by federal law and their own policies can't ask black guys to leave, without losing stores. Shocked. Thanks for the article @Nnesha It shed more light on the topic.
I didn't know that they don't allow people to use restrooms before a purchase. I mean who is gonna look at every single individual if they are going towards the restrooms withouth purchasing anything. what's the probability of stopping all the people?
I guess that's why they mentioned store density.
Hmmm can't say if the manager is racist or not.. need to look at the situation from another perspective God knows better.
