so i used the law of sines and i got the answer 72.7393 but wouldn't that be solving for my adjacent side not my angle for the hyp?

well yeah, that's the first step, then you can plug that new side back into the law of sines to get your angle 72.7393/sin(theta) = 53/sin(36) then you can solve for theta

actually I think there may be a better way to do it, if we re-start from the beginning 53/sin(36) = 90/sin(theta) that'll give you the largest angle directly, since that's the angle across from the largest side

53/sin(36) = 90/sin(X) i plugged it in like this and it gave me = 86.49
