For this assessment, you are going to create your own informative and creative photo story.

AnimeGhoul8863:

There is no correct order for this activity; however, you must be able to justify the order that you have selected. The description should explain Who, What, Where, When, and Why the person/event is important. Step 3: Finally, you will need to explain your choices by writing a one-paragraph summary explaining your ranking and providing an overall picture of the demise of communism in the Soviet Union. The summary paragraph should include the following elements: be at least five sentences in length justifies why you placed these five images in the order that you did contains accurate information presents the subject clearly demonstrates an understanding of the fall of the Soviet Union is organized

Do you know what’s happening in each of the pictures?

AnimeGhoul8863:

In the Velvet Revolution of 1989, Czechoslovakia wins its independence from the Soviet Union. By 1993, it has become two separate countries. The successful Solidarity movement in Poland in 1985 shows the strength of the people against the power of the Soviet government. After a series of protests known as the Peaceful Revolution, the Berlin Wall comes down. Two weeks later, West German Chancellor Helmut Kohl announces his 10-point program for building inter-German cooperation and eventual reunification. Czech leader Alexander Dubček attempts to implement reforms to his country in 1968. Soviet leader Leonid Brezhnev sends troops to the country. No one is killed, but Dubček is imprisoned and no reforms take place. In 1956, Hungary attempts to get out from Soviet control. The uprising fails when Soviet troops are sent to control protestors. Thousands of Hungarians are killed or imprisoned.

Shadow:

You got these from Wikipedia?

AnimeGhoul8863:

no from my lesson

Shadow:

Have you already arranged them in order of importance?

AnimeGhoul8863:

no

AnimeGhoul8863:

not yet

Shadow:

If not, then do that. Then write your descriptions for each image. I need to focus on chat. I can help you a bit more once I can get my computer out.

AnimeGhoul8863:

1.1956 Hungarian Uprising 2.Velvet Revolution 3.Solidarity 4.Fall of Berlin Wall 5.Prague Spring

AnimeGhoul8863:

@Shadow

Shadow:

What about the descriptions for each event/picture?

AnimeGhoul8863:

1.1956 Hungarian Uprising Descriptions: In 1956, Hungary attempts to get out from Soviet control. The uprising fails when Soviet troops are sent to control protestors. Thousands of Hungarians are killed or imprisoned

Shadow:

It sounds a bit too similar to the lesson. They may mark you off points for that. (Who, What, Where, When, and Why the person/event is important.) You encompass the above requirements, but you need to make the description sound a bit more like your own.

AnimeGhoul8863:

1.1956 Hungarian Uprising Descriptions: In 1956 the soviets controlled alot and the Hungarians attempted to get out there control. But the uprising failed when Soviet troops were sent to control protesters. Thousands of Hungarians were killed and or imprisoned at that time

Shadow:

hi

AnimeGhoul8863:

heller so what u think i took what the lesson gave and i reworded it

AnimeGhoul8863:

soooooooooooooooooooooo

Shadow:

You changed the format of the words, but you still use the exact phrases from the lesson.

Shadow:

It still sounds quite similar.

AnimeGhoul8863:

then can you help me make them not sound so similar

Shadow:

You just need to personalize it by saying things differently. It's like reading a paragraph, then telling someone what you just learned. You don't use the exact phrases from the book, but you use your own words. Try look at the sentences change the wording, whilst keeping the meaning intact.

Shadow:

Example: After a series of protests known as the Peaceful Revolution, the Berlin Wall comes down. Two weeks later, West German Chancellor Helmut Kohl announces his 10-point program for building inter-German cooperation and eventual reunification. The fall of the Berlin Wall came as a result of successive protests known as the Peaceful Revolution. Just two weeks later, the Chancellor for West Germany, Kelmut Kohl, announced his 10-point program designed to build cooperation between Germans in the hopes of reunification.

AnimeGhoul8863:

1.1956 Hungarian Uprising Descriptions: The Hungarian uprising was a very important time because in 1956 the soviets were in controll and the Hungarians had enough. So the Hungarians attempted to get out there control. But the uprising failed when Soviet troops were sent to control the protesters. During that time Thousands of Hungarians were killed and or imprisoned

@simplysadie

AnimeGhoul8863:

hold on im gonna make it easier for u

AnimeGhoul8863:

AnimeGhoul8863:

^^^look at it i got what i think is right and now i need the summary and i dont know what to put

simplysadie:

okay first of all they wont deduct points unless you literally copied and pasted from the lesson but lemme look at the thing

simplysadie:

So for the summary is there any directions or tips on what to write?

AnimeGhoul8863:

OMG I DIDNT SEE THIS The summary paragraph should include the following elements: be at least five sentences in length justifies why you placed these five images in the order that you did contains accurate information presents the subject clearly demonstrates an understanding of the fall of the Soviet Union is organized

AnimeGhoul8863:

oh x'D perfect timing yeah thats ^^^

simplysadie:

Okay, so what you're going to do is explain why you placed the images in the order you did and it's importance. Talk about the paragraphs you wrote, explaining a sentence from each image description. Just stuff like that. The most important thing is to have an introduction because they will take away points if there isn't a introduction and conclusion

AnimeGhoul8863:

so like "during this assignment i placed these pictures in these spots for a reason i placed the Hungarian Uprising first because i believe it was the uprising of the beginning. i say this because The Hungarian Uprising was the uprising of the Hungarian people against the government and policies of the People's Republic of Hungary.

simplysadie:

Yeah that sounds good so far

AnimeGhoul8863:

the reason i put the velvet revolution second was because i feel the Czechoslovakia winning there independence is a very important piece of history because it tells the story of how they got there independence like we once did.

simplysadie:

Do you want me to edit out any grammar mistakes and stuff? Cause i have an app for that.

AnimeGhoul8863:

if u want to but you dont have to

simplysadie:

Sure I already have one paragraph finished

simplysadie:

During this assignment, I placed these pictures at certain points for a reason. I put the Hungarian Uprising first because I believe it was the beginning of an uprising. I say this because The Hungarian Uprising was the rebellion of the Hungarian people. It was against the government and the People's Republic of Hungary.

AnimeGhoul8863:

The reason i put the Berlin wall falling for number 3 is because that was a very important time for them. they went from having one country to two separate countries because they had to divide the Soviet-controlled East Berlin from West Berlin. And once they were able to be one country again they were so happy and free at last.

simplysadie:

I put the velvet revolution second was because I feel Czechoslovakia winning independence is an important piece of history because it tells the story of how they got their independence like we once did.

simplysadie:

Okay, I'm not putting "the reason" just because it would be overused. But add these paragraphs i sent into your assignment.

AnimeGhoul8863:

ok

simplysadie:

I set the Berlin wall falling as number three because this was an important time for them. Berlin went from having one country to two separate countries: they had to divide the Soviet-controlled East Berlin from West Berlin. Once they were able to be one country again: they were so happy and free at last.

AnimeGhoul8863:

i put Solidarity as number four because i feel they created the first independent trade union in a Soviet Communist country. No matter how hard Poland tried to get rid of the union the union was to strong and wouldn't stop till they got what they wanted. And in the end the Solidarity became the first chink in the armor of the Soviet Union.

AnimeGhoul8863:

And last but not least the Prague Spring. I put the Prague Spring last because i feel out of all the history changing events this one wasnt as important. The Czech leader Alexander Dubček attempted to implement reforms to bring back aspects of democracy and personal freedom to his country but failed. He told the the Soviet Union that Czechoslovakia would remain part of the Warsaw Pact and they sent troops after him and imprisoned him. In conclusion for my opinion i feel this is the right order for importance.
