MLA
sorry i didn't read the previous comments...
It's MLA, and that's what I'm looking for (what type of writing this is). This section is key in determining that: “Judge Eugene F. Pigott Jr. of the New York State Court of Appeals wrote It sounds like a judge expressing his view. I don't know if it's in an actual case, or commenting on something.
It's actually the New York Soda Ban from 2012
They simply want me to practice on in-text citing but i'm not sure how to do it
from where ?? book magazine or website ?
Doesn't say... They just gave me this: Integrate the following quote about the New York soda ban into a paragraph using proper in-text citation: “Judge Eugene F. Pigott Jr. of the New York State Court of Appeals wrote that the city’s Board of Health “exceeded the scope of its regulatory authority” in enacting the proposal.”
https://www.nytimes.com/2014/06/27/nyregion/city-loses-final-appeal-on-limiting-sales-of-large-sodas.html "In a 20-page opinion, Judge Eugene F. Pigott Jr. of the New York State Court of Appeals wrote that the city’s Board of Health “exceeded the scope of its regulatory authority” in enacting the proposal, which was championed by former Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg. " It's a judicial opinion.
According to comments given by the New York State Court of Appeals wrote that the City's board of Health “exceeded the scope of its regulatory authority” (Judge Eugene Pigott Jr.)
Is this correct? ^
I'm having problems with properly putting "(Judge Eugene Pigott Jr.)" I believe this is incorrect
Should "judge be included? Should the last name be before the first (Piggot, Eugene Jr.)
no need to mention judge
Thank you Nnesha
So... (Pigott, Eugene Jr.) is the best way correct?
It sounds more formal.
piggot eugene is the judge who is the author ?
Yes
well... since it's not given to you don't worry about that .
Thank you so much Nnesha
one second
I’d cite your stuff for u but I’m on my iPad.
according to this website https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/747/2/ https://prnt.sc/j955f7 if the name is already mentioned n quote then you don't need to put the name in parenthesis, just the page number will be there. i am guessing page is also not given btw you just need to put the last name
