exactly and sound is the same sound moves in waves so the air vibrates but doesn't actually move a distance

so pitch only changes when the *source* of the sound is moving toward or away from a listener. because of how the sound compresses on itself as new sound waves are being made

Angle:

on the other hand the intensity (or volume) of the sound gets smaller the farther away you get as in, the farther away you are, the softer the sound
