C?

Flamo:

Hm... it Does seem like C to me as well.

Flamo:

@Shadow

Angle:

Let's think about this with real examples radio waves have a very long wavelength x-rays have a very short wavelength but x rays have much more energy than radio waves, right?

zarkam21:

yes

Angle:

so long wavelength = less energy short wavelength = more energy

Flamo:

Ye?

zarkam21:

So Wavelength =)

Angle:

BUT what does proportional mean? it should mean more = more and less = less

Angle:

IF wavelength was proportional to energy then the longer wavelength should equal more energy

Angle:

but that's not what we have, right?

zarkam21:

Nope

Flamo:

It means corresponding in size or amount to something else.

zarkam21:

it needs to kind og mean the same

Flamo:

Or Corresponding to a Ratio

Angle:

yeah so since wavelengths are less length = more energy this means that wavelengths are INVERSELY proportional to energy NOT proportional

zarkam21:

so the opposite

Flamo:

o

Angle:

indeed, so let's take a look at the other options because C isn't right

Flamo:

O: Rip

zarkam21:

Maybe B

Angle:

ok cool do you want to try explaining to me why you think that? :)

zarkam21:

I think I am almost positive lol =)

zarkam21:

I was stuck between those two but since you explained why its not c I think i know why its b instead

zarkam21:

You are such a great help

Angle:

I'm glad I could help ^_^

C

zarkam21:

I did the calculations and everything, just making sure I did them right

Angle:

yup, that is correct :)

zarkam21:

Clueless about this one

Angle:

I went to the zoo the other day, and apparently there are snakes who can "see" heat/temperature! https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/earth/wildlife/7441002/Snakes-have-heat-seeking-vision.html

zarkam21:

Oh my god

zarkam21:

I cant see anything snake related I'm sorry

zarkam21:

I literally cannot sleep at night

Angle:

LOL sorry I thought it would be a cool "real world application" that would be interesting

zarkam21:

its my biggest fear has been since i was like 5 i literally start screaming in my sleep if i even see a picture

zarkam21:

Yeah its kind of stupid but its a real fear

zarkam21:

So D then maybe

Angle:

I had a teacher give me a really cool demonstration with cameras that visualize different lights, here's something similar https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpx7hsoYEt4 hmmm I'm not sure entirely how to explain this it's like... the electromagnetic waves give off energy energy = heat we can see visible light, because light has enough energy to bounce off of something and back to us, carrying information things with less energy than visible light, such as microwaves and infrared, don't have enough energy to bounce through things such as glass. so, for example, If I can see with visible light, I can see through the glass. But if I can only see with infrared light, the glass looks like a wall, because it doesn't have enough energy to pass through for a similar reason, x rays can "see" into people's bodies and look at their bones, while we humans can't see bones in visible light

Angle:

hmmm I didn't do a good job of explaining... sorry

zarkam21:

Nope you did perfect , A?

Angle:

correct :)

zarkam21:

zarkam21:

Okay so I know we did a question that is similar

zarkam21:

D

Angle:

yup! you're correct :D

zarkam21:

zarkam21:

D

Angle:

hmmm so V = velocity = speed (kinda) = speed of light = 3*10^8 f = frequency = 6*10^(18)

Angle:

then wavelength = velocity / frequency

zarkam21:

A

Angle:

perfect :)

zarkam21:

zarkam21:

A

Angle:

the number of waves that occurs each second is considered the frequency x rays have a higher frequency and more energy than microwaves for example

zarkam21:

Wait its D?

Angle:

yup! all electromagnetic waves move at the speed of light

zarkam21:

zarkam21:

A

Angle:

yeah that sounds right because when a star moves 'away' from earth, it is redshift so toward earth should be blueshift

zarkam21:

zarkam21:

B

Angle:

perfect ^_^
