Help completing this @shadow

zarkam21:

1. List five objects in your daily life that produce sounds with a high pitch and five that produce sounds with a low pitch. Remember, frequency is related to pitch, which is the quality of how high or low a sound is. The higher the frequency, the higher the pitch. The lower the frequency, the lower the pitch. High Pitch Car horn Horn from a ship Low Pitch Washing Machine Fireplace burning wood

justasoftie:

Do you mind if I try to help?

zarkam21:

Go for it

justasoftie:

so you have to remember a low sound is a sound that is lower than twenty hz

zarkam21:

Oh okay

zarkam21:

snoring?

justasoftie:

I think it would be one

justasoftie:

Or thunder. Or a drum. Or someone punching a wall

zarkam21:

But wouldn't that be high pitch?

justasoftie:

Oh dang I think I have this mixed up

justasoftie:

So faster the sound waves move, the higher the pitch

zarkam21:

ohhh, im a little confused

justasoftie:

I was too

zarkam21:

i still am

justasoftie:

So a low pitch sound sound waves go slower

justasoftie:

when I googled to check myself I found this. It may help understanding the pitch levels. http://www.physicsclassroom.com/class/sound/Lesson-2/Pitch-and-Frequency

zarkam21:

Still confused :(

justasoftie:

Oh okay. I'll explain

justasoftie:

What grade you in? So I can know what level of this you are learning

justasoftie:

But basically, high frequency sound waves of high pitch sounds vibrate more and move quicker

zarkam21:

@Angle

zarkam21:

@justasoftie do you mind if i get a second opinion

Angle:

I would say that a horn from a ship is low pitched

justasoftie:

No I don't

Angle:

example of ship horn: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLsrEw4dBT0

zarkam21:

High Pitch Glass breaking Infant crying Opera singer Low Pitch Washing Machine Fireplace burning wood Snoring Stomach grumbling Horn from a ship

Angle:

example of boiling kettle: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NaiiJs2XO0M

zarkam21:

I need 5 for each i am set for low if you could just check that, I need two more for high pitch

zarkam21:

Ya there =)

Angle:

Here's an example of a hawk's screech: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lTFICwlJtm4

zarkam21:

great how about for the 5th one, a smoke alarm

Angle:

oooo that's a great one!

zarkam21:

List five objects that produce waves with a large amplitude and five that produce waves with a small amplitude.

zarkam21:

X-ray Gama ray microwave light wave sound wave

Angle:

mmm I think amplitude has to do with volume

Angle:

the things you listed I think has more to do with frequency, not amplitude

zarkam21:

oh okay

Angle:

so fire truck sirens have large amplitude because they are loud

Angle:

tree leaves blowing in the wind have small amplitude because it's quiet

zarkam21:

Girl screaming because she stubbed her toe would be large

Angle:

agreed

zarkam21:

friends whispering to each other woldb e small

Angle:

mhm you're doing good :)

zarkam21:

bird chirping would be small cat meowing

zarkam21:

raindrops hitting the ground (drip-drop)

zarkam21:

all would be small

Angle:

ooo and thunder can be loud

zarkam21:

helicopter flying low (loud)

zarkam21:

women behind you walking noisily with her high hells as if she were wearing wooden shoes.

zarkam21:

for loud

zarkam21:

car crash can be loud too i guess

Angle:

lol I think that is more relative loudness rather than amplitude loudness because high heels are like whispers compared to the helicopter

zarkam21:

eruption of a volcano?

Angle:

ooo yeah

zarkam21:

that should be it ! thanksss
