Find the measure of angle x in the figure below: A triangle is shown. At the top vertex of the triangle is a horizontal line aligned to the base of the triangle. The angle formed between the horizontal line and the left edge of the triangle is shown as 56 degrees, the angle formed between the horizontal line and the right edge of the triangle is shown as 51 degrees. The angle at the top vertex of the triangle is labeled as y, and the interior angle on the right is labeled as 72 degrees. The interior angle on the left is labeled as x. 35° 47° 73° 78°

@Hero If the Honorary Professor of Mathematics isn't too busy.

Hero:

@theycraveekiki13 would you mind drawing the given triangle? You can use the draw button features just below the chat box to do this.

theycraveekiki13:

OK

theycraveekiki13:

IS THIS ALRIGHT

Hero:

Actually, maybe you should just screen shot what the triangle really looks like. I get the feeling that "horizontal line aligned with base of triangle" is significant and I don't think what you've drawn properly reflects that.

OK hOLD ON

im on a computer

what do you think

ratnakermehta20:

\[56^{0}+y+51^{0}=180^{0} \rightarrow y=73^{0}\] \[x+y+72^{0}=180^{0} \rightarrow x+y=108^{0}.\] But, \[y=73^{0} \rightarrow x+73^{0}=108^{0} \rightarrow x=35^{0}.\]
