> most countries have different currencies (there are some exceptions to this rule, like countries within the EU use euros), so you can't use one country's currency in another. in order to convert btwn currencies a traveller can visit a currency exchange, where they can hand over a desired amount of currency and be given the equivalent amount in another country's currency
> exchange rates get pretty complex but most countries use a floating exchange system where the government/central bank sets the exchange rate based on that country's current economic situation
