A change in mood in a book could happen for any of those events above. A would be a change for happy, making the new mood of the book happier, especially if it was gloomy and sad before. The second one could qualify as a super happy event and excited. C could be happy and sad at the same time. Because they were in a camp, it could be a joy or a pain because they may be unable to feed the child, or unhappy about the fact it has to live in those conditions. I don't know the harshness of the camps though. D could make some people angry, or to have inconvenience or tension, making the book have a bit of a choppy mood.
