Consider the function f(x) = 3x + 1 and the graph of the function g(x) shown below. The graph g(x) is the graph of f(x) translated___ units____ , and g(x) =____
@Hero
Okay, so for this one, you'll have to find the equation for g(x) first. Do you know how to find the equation for g(x)?
Or I should say, do you know how to find the equation of a line given a graph?
Rise over run? Or something like that. I am not good with math.
Okay, what about points? Can you find two points that are on the graphed line and post them here?
(3,4) and (0,-6)
The y-intercept of g(x) line is -5
Ohhh
it should be (0,-5) not (0,-6) I guess it is a typo error :)
Good thing @marc pointed that out. So we have (3,4) and (0,-5). As a suggestion, I would probably try to choose points that are only on the axes that way it will be easier to calculate things like slope.
