The voltage isn't constant in a series circuit, and thus will be reduced as it flows through each resistor. This will result in lower power in the resistors following R1.

Shadow:

That's why series circuits aren't good when you want lights to have the same brightness. Parallel circuits are better, which is what Christmas lights consist of.

Shadow:

If Christmas lights were a series circuit, each following bulb would be less bright. Keeping that in mind, which resistor do you think will draw the least power?

So then it would be Resistor 3?

Shadow:

Yes. This is because the current flows out from the positive end, and is received at the negative end.
