It was a "Protestant" religious revival during the early 19th century in the U.S. The Main goal of it was important as it indeed led to the making of reform movements to make awareness of injustices and reduce suffering such as the Temperance Movement, the Woman's suffrage movement and the Abolitionist Movement in which people advocated for emancipation on religious grounds.
