How does the archetype of the shepherd affect meaning in The Alchemist?

Being a shepherd is the only profession that allows one to travel, save, and pursue one’s dreams.

In spite of his own personal hopes and desires, the boy chooses to remain loyal to his flock.

The boy enjoys the simple life of a shepherd but he is still restless, believing that there must be something else out there.

While the boy fulfills his ambitions and dreams, he never forgets his sheep and plans to return to his simple lifestyle once his journey is over.
