A 10 foot rope ladder hangs over the side of a boat with the bottom rung on the surface of the water. The rungs are one foot apart, and the tide goes up at the rate of 6 inches per hour. How long will it be until three rungs are covered?

Hello, how far along are you with this problem?
DeepBeyond:
well i think i got an answer
Shadow:
If the rungs are a foot apart from each other, then three rungs is three feet, which can be rewritten as 36 inches ( since 12 inches = 1ft). If the rate is 6in per hour, then divide 36 by the rate to get the number of hours it would take.
DeepBeyond:
oh that seems a bit easy lol
