In order to solve for x, we need to make an equation.

They give us various lines that bisect each other. AB which is x - 2 is half of AC. CD = x + 8.

It would be ideal to do AC = CD but we don't have the value for AC, only half of it. But since it's bisected, and we have the value of half of AC, we can do 2(AB) to get the full length of AC.
\[2(AB) = CD\]
\[2(x -2) = x + 8\]
\[2x - 4 = x + 8\]
\[x = 12\]
