3 part?

Vocaloid:

for part I what do you get when you multiply both sides by r?

Vocaloid:

r = -6sin(theta) you just need to multiply the left side by r and the right side by r

zarkam21:

wait so -6 *sin(theta)

Vocaloid:

you are given r = -6sin(theta) the directions say to multiply both sides by r so what do you get after that?

zarkam21:

would it just be -6sin(theta)* -6sin(theta)

Vocaloid:

just the letter r, not -6sin(theta)

zarkam21:

-6sin(theta)*r

zarkam21:

?

Vocaloid:

good what about the left side?

zarkam21:

oh r^2=-6sin(theta)*r

Vocaloid:

good using the fact that r^2 = x^2 + y^2 and the fact that rsin(theta) = y, convert the equation to x and y form

Vocaloid:

you have r^2 = -6rsin(theta) you can replace "r^2" with "x^2+y^2" you can also replace "rsin(theta)" with y

zarkam21:

so basically x^2+y^2=y

Vocaloid:

almost, don't forget about that -6 x^2 + y^2 = -6y now for part II complete the square on the y terms

Vocaloid:

not sure where that ^3 came from x^2 + (y+3)^2 = 9 is your equation now for part III what shape is the graph of this equation?

zarkam21:

circle

Vocaloid:

good so that's it
