If you are on Chrome, click Ctrl G or Ctrl F then type in "President Johnson was deflated by Cronkite’s report." This will get you to the section of the article that immediately addresses your question, though I would highly recommend skimming over the rest of the article to obtain some understanding of the war. In general though, Cronkite essentially said that the war would end in a stalemate. Neither side, the communists or the Americans (alongside with South Vietnam) were a clear winner. The Tet Offensive was not proving to be effective, whilst the civilians of the country were being terrorized. Women, children, and simple rice farmers were losing their homes and livelihoods. Journalists portrayed many pictures of this which helped push the anti-war effort. I won't tell you exactly what happened, but I am sure you can infer what did. Just read the rest of the article, starting from where I pointed you to go, and you will find out.
