caira12:

Sam used 4 gallons of gas to drive 108 miles and 7 gallons of gas to drive 189 miles. Is this a proportional relationship? Explain your reasoning. How can you tell by looking at a graph if there is a proportional relationship?

Moon:

you just need to calculate whether 108 miles/4 gallons = 189 miles/7 gallons, if so, the relationship between gallons and miles is proportional b/c the ratios of miles to gallons is constant; otherwise, no as for the graph, if the relationship is proportional they both should lie on the same straight line that crosses the origin

caira12:

thank you!
