What is the disadvantage of using models to study the food web? Observations are made from inside the system. Actual interactions are affected by the models. They cannot show all the interactions taking place. They cannot help in making predictions about a population.

AdiGirl:

hey @jhonyy9

jhonyy9:

AdiGirl:

pls

Angle:

It's been a while since I've learned this topic... I think a "model" of a food web is hypothetical situations that we can think of, for example: there are flies, frogs that eat the flies, birds that eat the frogs, foxes eat the birds, when the foxes die the fungi decompose the fox, etc. which would be a model of this food chain but we do not really know if whether birds prefer eating frogs or mice we do not know if the food chain really plays out like this (a model is not "actual interactions") there could also be cats that eat birds, but we do not see this in our simple model

Angle:

in a model, we can't possibly know every little detail about what each thing eats like, a frog could eat flies (which we see in the model) but frogs can also eat ants, mosquitos, spiders, termites, and other bugs

AdiGirl:

um soooo is it a or b or c or d which one???

AdiGirl:

which is the answer

Angle:

in a model, we can't possibly know every little detail about what each thing eats

AdiGirl:

sooo c is the answer???

Angle:

yup! that's what I think :)

AdiGirl:

oki thanks!
