HELPPPPP!!! My laptop kept saying "your computer memory is low close out all open window, restart the windows, or save all progress and close it out and reopen." I ignored it for 2 days, then something happened a blue screen is on my laptop and I don't have access to admin...
you didnt tell me it said "your computer memory is low close out all open window, restart the windows, or save all progress and close it out and reopen."
Do as it says it probably needs to update your laptop
exit QC and other windows Restart the computer and wait 15 seconds then turn it back on and see what happens
You should never defy a computer's important warnings...however, if it stops working completely, you should try holding the power button for a while. That could work.
I even looked up your question so if what i said doesnt work go here and read about it and see if you find something else https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/save-restore-windows-session/
Yes what howie said hold the power button so it restarts hold it for 5-10 seconds then wait 15 seconds and turn it back on and see what happens
Like i said it could be your laptop need to update and it will once it turns back on
It doesn't need a restart though... or update.. It already did Monday...
but if your laptop is saying "your computer memory is low close out all open window, restart the windows, or save all progress and close it out and reopen." then i would follow what it says and restart the laptop
I did, restarting won't help... I have the task bar open it says chrome.exe has 15 running... what does that mean?
Dont you just have to delete some stuff
i agree with angel try to see if you can delete stuff ill look on my computer to see if i can find a way to restart the Windows and not your actual laptop
It popped up again "Your computer is low on memory to restore enough for programs to work correctly, save your files, then close or restart all open programs
And plus if its a 2014-2015 laptop it could be dying from being used so much through out the years
ok i might have found a way to fix it
go to settings next to the search bar
Scroll alllllll the way down until you see advanced
Click advanced and scroll allllllll the way down again
Now what lol
you will come across something that says "Reset and clean up" and under that you will see 2 things saying "Restore settings to their original defaults and Clean up computer"
i would try those to see if it will fix your computer
What will it do o.o i dont want my computer to be coput
Coput?
how ever cuput is spelled XD
ohhhhh lol i clicked on "Clean up computer" and it says under it "Find and remove harmful software Chrome can find harmful software on your computer and remove it Report details to Google Includes information about harmful software, system settings, and processes on your computer"
I clicked it o.o
Under "Restore settings to their original defaults" Reset settings This will reset your startup page, new tab page, search engine, and pinned tabs. It will also disable all extensions and clear temporary data like cookies. Your bookmarks, history and saved passwords will not be cleared. Learn more"
Hmm i might have to do that bc its taking forever to clean it..
Let it clean your computer then click "Restore settings to their original defaults"
Google Chrome did not shut down completely, I clicked restore it, and then I'm still stuck with big blue looking screen without anything on it... its dark blue like its a background idk
Screen shot it please if you can and show me
May I ask what laptop you have? o:
Its not working -_- and It's a HP laptop has the word stream on it... windows 7 or 8
Dear god its old
LOL i dont even know if there's a warranty or not
it could very well be your laptop is dying and you will have to get a new one
its happened to me alot rn this laptop i have is my 2nd one in the past 5 years cause the other one dyed bc it was 5 years old
Don't tell me that XD
but its true your probably gonna need a new laptop
I'm broke.
Cant your parents try to get you a laptop even a simple one
nopes..
I wish..
im sorry i have to go back to school But im telling you you NEED a NEW laptop or have to work with the one you have OR go and take it somewere and have someone look at it but i think they will tell you the same thing
You explained it the long way anime, that thing you told her literally wipes the computer so anything important I suggest you email to yourself
But why not ask @Ultrilliam the PC expert
I dont wanna wipe it.... and is he on??
i would but he not on and plus it wipe the computer but it doesnt wipe it all away it explains that it keep all important information it just wipes viruses and bad stuff away
i literally copied and pasted word for word of what the settings say
Nooo
Try calling technical support. TheSmartOne is good with this computer stuff, I think. o;
And i also told her just get a new laptop if it cant fix bc its windows 7/8 and 5 years old its dying
I don't think it has anything to do with how old it is, honestly.
She doesn't need a new laptop, and I have done that before it wipes everything except for what it locked in q file but it hen i tired to lock q file to save stuff it didn't work
O.o
ok then you help her out i have to do school
Perhaps it's dirty inside and needs cleaning.
In a file*
How do I do that Elsa?
ok HOW ABOUT SOMEONE WHO ACTUALLY KNOWS SOMETHING HELPS
YES PLEASE XD
Rip e.e
Jesus I saw the email, looked at the post offline, was like "what are these people saying" and practically ran to my laptop >_>
Well sorry XD I haven't had it happen before
Ultrilliam was checking us out offline. o;
Anyway, by blue screen, I can only assume you mean Blue Screen of Death... What operating system are you on?
(Windows I presume?)
she said she has windows 7 or 8
There is a pretty big difference between 7 and 8 ._.
i know
If it was 8 or 10 I could work with that, but I need to know if it's 7 or 8 x'D
The blue screens completely changed between 7 and 8
@Sazzie Does the startbar look like this?
Or like this:
I think 8 is what I was told last, YES IT DOES without all the junk... 2nd one
It also shows a blue part when I open the start menu..
I figured (blegh I hate 8... if you want you can still upgrade to 10 for free lol) Moving on, Do you remember the error code while you were on the bluescreen?
It just said "Your computer is low on memory to restore enough for programs to work" blah blah blah... and 10 isnt compatible
10 is never "compatible", but that doesn't mean it won't work flawlessly *looks at old computer that used to have windows vista sitting next to me, now housing windows 10*
Besides, if it doesn't work exactly as expected, theres a revert option for 30 days lol
Moving right along, on the actual blue screen of death, there should have been a error message
Like in this picture:
The laptop is 4 yrs old... and no didnt see that... just a blue screen that wont go away...
Is it bad for 15 Chrome.Exe's to be running??
No, chrome seperates every tab, every extension, and a few other things into it's own thread to prevent whole program crashing, as well as better multithreaded performance
As it stands I have 73 "chromes opened" that number just indicates the number of forks chrome has
Oh.. so what do I do then?
(BTW, the desktop with vista is 10 years old LOL)
LOL
and it can still have windows 10 now =P
Well, as long as your in task manager, switch to the "performance" tab, and look at "Memory"
It shows a graph... and moving numbers
XD I don't have admin access to anything.. so yeah..
Yes, that's very good. Now what does it say here
1.1/1.9 GB 58%
oof, only 2GB Go back to processes, and click on "memory" That should sort it by whats consuming the most
What are the top 3 applications and how much are they using?
Google Chrome (32 bit), Task Manager doesnt say... and service host different numbers
Figured chrome was the main user of memory Well, to me, it looks like you have very limited RAM, and just need to be cautious about how many chrome extension you have at once, and how many tabs you have open
Navigate over to chrome://extensions, and tell me how many you have lol
Where is that on chrome or?
Yes, type that in the URL bar
3
Any that you don't need? (specifically adblock if that's there...) For example, adblock ALONE is eating 1GB of my RAM right now, so it's a pretty heavy RAM eater
It shows Google Slides, Google Docs, and Google Sheets I don't use those
Oh, then disable those, I always do that first thing when I install chrome, it's google bloatware, not really needed IMO Next open
then click "Memory footprint" that will give you a idea on what tabs eat how much memory, so you can be a little more mindful of how many tabs you have open, other then that, there's not much else to do with only 2GB of RAM
(be mindful to also shutdown the computer at night, and start it back up in the morning, or simply restart it once a day) ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I usually put it to sleep if it wont power off XD and should I delete those extensions?
yea go ahead, in my experience you never need them unless you do a lotta offline work with docs LOL
And sleep saves the computers state to memory NEVER PUT IT TO SLEEP
The externsions say <1 MB to all of them and LOL I dont
Ok no more sleep XD
That right there, plus having too many chrome tabs open at once is probably your problem lol Unlike what anime was spewing earlier your computer is fine, though I would definitely look for a upgrade when you can
Alright, and the message just popped up again.. "Your computer memory is low" I still have that blue screen too..
Wait... what do you mean you still have that blue screen?
While the computer is running?
Yes
Then that is most definitely not a blue screen of death... could you hit "printscreen" on your keyboard, and paste here in the typing box?
It wont let me screenshot..
That's ok, just tap printscreen and paste it here, it should still take the screenshot (assuming you don't have a screenshotting application installed)
If you do, then open snipping tool, and copy paste the image here after screenshotting the "Blue Screen"
Nope... I dont get why I cant unless bc i'm on family monitored..
Did you open snipping tool?
where the heck is that XD
well, its located in C:\Windows\System32\SnippingTool.exe However, you should be able to find it by using the search in the windows 8 start bar/menu
The low memory popped up again XD and ohhhh
Simply search "Snipping Tool" and it should popup theoretically
Oh.. you mean your background is blue? ._. Also note for simplicity, you can right click and hit "copy" and paste it here
How to fix that though.. right click dont work idk why
Right click on the image when you use the snipping tool, like this
But anyway... just set any other background?
Now that I think about it... I wonder if it automatically disables backgrounds when memory is low? hm
I don't know lol
Anyway... let's see if I can remember the windows 8 UI lol
Right click the desktop and hit "Personalize"
my right click dont work :(
Ok just gonna double check something... have you restarted windows since this happened? ._.
Also... do you mean your right click button is broken, or in that it was working but hasn't since this started happening (anywhere)?
Its broken, and I had to close chrome when it wasnt responding so it restored my tabs
._. you should uh... get a mouse ._.
Alright... lets see I can remember how to get there without right clicking
Search for "Control Panel" this time, and open that
Ok now what
Ok. Hold up. And the message is still popping up
and its still blue...
Alrighty, I get the feeling your not... but do you happen to be a Administrator to the system?
Nope XD
RIP Well uh... not much I can do for you other then stress to you to restart the system NOW If you could get administrative permission we could run a system integrity check & fix, or if that doesn't work potentially disable some services in windows. Other then that, not much left to be done here ._.
It closed google out and i had to reopen it -_- rip pc..
Sazzie. Re Start
ughhhh

XD nopes
try deleting some old and unimportant files you dont need and reset you all you files put them on a flash drive and delete the files on the computer and then restart it
Sazzie, for real, restart the computer. Why are you so stubborn as to refuse to restart a computer? I don't mean to come across as rude, but that IS THE FIRST THING to try ._.
Just do what the.....hm. It seems we are past that.
BC my mom would have to put password in all over..

What is the problem? She'll understand if it dosen't work.
JOSHHHHHHHHHHH
:|
I dont want my mom to reput it in.
How else will you fix this situation?
Tell her to give you the password then. e.e
XD She dont trust me Elsa
Ctrl alt and delete. XD
Restart the computer. There's no way around it sazzie. No sleeping, actually turn off and turn the computer on every day. ETC ETC.
Theres a old saying, I can't help you if you won't help yourself
EHHHHH after school
Then ask your mom for the password.
Get in, get back on QC, and voila.
"ehhh after school" >every school related thing you do crashes or breaks cause you don't restart the computer yea ok makes sense
Everyone is happy. :D
What are you worried about, Sazzie?
Idk.. i'm hard headed for one
Ok. And that's preventing you from restarting your computer and asking for teh password so it'll work again?
Tell your mom `Technical support has helped me and wants me to restart my computer once more.` And Poof.
It's family safety so that wouldn't work Els... bc most of this is supposed to be blocked
ok... one sec
