Anatomy Tutorial: Anatomy of the Skull pt. 2
\({\bf{Anterior~View:}}\) this drawing is probably going to be even worse than last one's RIP |dw:1536632295401:dw|
borrowing some of the bones from last time: |dw:1536632419821:dw|
imo, foramen are the easiest structures to label because they're the most obvious esp. on a B+W diagram. You have one hole above the eye and one below the eye, labelled appropriately as the supraorbital and infraorbital foramen |dw:1536632555414:dw|
if you can recall from the mandible anatomy chart, we have a mental foramen and mental protuberance on the chin (the mental protuberance is the pointed part at the bottom, not shown b/c I ran out of room >> |dw:1536632665237:dw|
then around the orbital area/sphenoid bone, we have three structures: the optic canal, the superior orbital fissure, and the inferior orbital fissue |dw:1536632856824:dw|
Dang, this is more detailed than my hs anatomy exams
uh I hope you don't mind the notifications cause this will last a while >>
lol well, even if I delete anything I'll still get notifications ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It's no problem!
Medal for you btw.
anyway this is getting a little crowded but now that the eye is done let's move to the nasal region |dw:1536633001941:dw| we have three structures in this region, the nasal bone (the main part), the nasal concha (named after the conch-shape), and the vomer, which separates the left and right nostrils
there's this one structure that's hard to see (easier in the transverse view) called the palatine bone which is on the upper roof ot the mouth (the diagram in question has it labelled behind the right-eye|dw:1536633287660:dw|
anyway, we have two more structures, the perpendicular plate of the ethmoid (which appears in the medial line of the nasal cavity, don't confuse this w/ the nasal bones/nasal concha which are off to the side and the frontonasal suture which divides the nasal bone and frontal bone|dw:1536633551231:dw|
unfortunately we have to memorize all these structures >>
anyway the real nightmare is the inferior view b/c nothing makes sense in that orientation >>
Ooh, I remember hating that. Good thing we never addressed much of inferior on our exams (Thank you so much for the tutorial! You're great <3)
