silvernight269:

Substitution or elimination -7x+y=-1 -3-+56=-9

silvernight269:

@Hero

kittybasil:

Did you miss variables in the second expression? @silvernight269

kittybasil:

You can build a substitution expression for \(y\) from the first expression, though.\[-7x+y=-1\]\[\cancel{-7x\color{red}{+7x}}+y=-1\color{red}{+7x}\]\[\huge{\color{royalblue}{\therefore y=7x-1}}\] You can substitute that in for \(y\) in your second expression. Use that to calculate value for \(x\), then substitute \(x\) value into the blue expression to solve for \(y\).

silvernight269:

Ok thx. I’ll tell her
