@Vocaloid

Nicole:

Correct?

Vocaloid:

hm not quite you should be looking for something like y = kx where nothing is being added or subtracted from x or y by itself

Vocaloid:

however, I will say this one is tricky because if (x+____) is in brackets and multiplied to a constant, then that would also be direct variation

Nicole:

So B?

Vocaloid:

yeah B would be the better choice

Nicole:

http://prntscr.com/ktn65p

Vocaloid:

if 400 text costs $8 you can divide 400/8 to get the text per dollar rate then multiply by 10 since you have 10 dollars

Nicole:

500

Nicole:

A

Vocaloid:

good

Nicole:

http://prntscr.com/ktn7l3

Vocaloid:

so you set up a proportion where before-tax price / tax = before-tax price/tax they already give you a 400 dollar comp w/ 30 dollar tax, so 400/30 = before-tax price/tax then we plug in the 500 dollar computer we want the tax for so 400/30 = 500/x

Nicole:

A

Nicole:

but its y instead of x

Vocaloid:

oh I didn't catch that, well done

Nicole:

http://prntscr.com/ktn8ch

Vocaloid:

try to find the one that looks the most like y = mx + b

Nicole:

b

Vocaloid:

good

Nicole:

http://prntscr.com/ktn9bd

Vocaloid:

as a hint we can subtract x from both sides to get y = -x + 2 using the formula y = mx + b, b is the y-intercept, so what would be the y-interecept for y = -x + 2?

Nicole:

A or B

Nicole:

im thinking A what do u think

Vocaloid:

ah anyway, since x + y = 2 we can plug in y = 0 to get the x-intercept so x + 0 = 2 so yeah A is correct

Vocaloid:

anyway I actually gotta get to class see you later ;_;

Nicole:

Okey http://prntscr.com/ktnant

Nicole:

Oh okay lol. had one more question but its okay ty

Nicole:

@kittybasil

kittybasil:

\[y-2=-1(x+2)\]Isolate the \(y\)\[y=-1(x+2)+2\]Simplify the right side\[y=-x-2+2\]\[\therefore y=-x\] Since your \(x\) is negative, it means \((-1)x\) so your slope is \(-1\)

Checking the last two choices, \(x=2\) then \(y=-(2)=-2\) so the first "point" option is wrong. \(x=-2\) then \(y=-(-2)=2\) which is correct So you pick options 2 and 4

Nicole:

Wow thank you so much http://prntscr.com/ktnnq3

Nicole:

@dude

dude:

Make a new post, this is getting long

dude:

Any idea though?

Nicole:

D?

dude:

Not quite \(y=mx+b\) b is the y-intercept \(\mathbb {if~3~is~negative..}\)

Nicole:

C

dude:

Yes

Nicole:

i will make a new post
