Ultrilliam:

Well to start out these are very different Operating Systems. One was developed by Apple Inc, and one by Microsoft Inc. Lets first talk a bit about Windows Windows OS is the most used (Desktop) Operating System in the world currently. As such, Windows has a absolutely massive community, and a large pool of software to do just about everything. It's well optimized, and comes prepackaged with a pretty decent Anti-Virus (Windows Security Essentials) since the 7th revision of the Operating System (Windows 7). It has built itself as the defacto Operating System, and as such, a lot of software is optimized more for it then it may be for a platform like Macintosh. All of this together leads to a well rounded, and very extensible, experience. One disadvantage however of windows is due to it's size, much more malware is developed targeting Windows, but this does not mean in any capacity that MacOS is immune to malware and viruses. Windows is typically also seen as the more easy to use Operating System for desktop, so many older folks with Windows get targeted and are more susceptible to fall for scam ads, and run random EXE files they may download. Moving onto MacOS, it's base is within the realm of Linux. MacOS is much less used by the older crowd unlike Windows, so it's usually not targeted as much for Malware and Scamware. This does not mean they aren't targeted at all, and saying they don't get Malware what-so-ever would be highly naive; however to say it's less likely is true. It's for this reason that the antivirus and antimalware scene for MacOS is massively less developed then it is for Windows. It's somewhat easy to use, however it has significantly smaller community. For certain tasks such as design however, Mac's are a common choice because of their color accurate displays. Unlike windows you don't have to go out and search for a color accurate monitor and add that onto your expense of getting the system. For this reason the design software community as developed a bit more on Mac then on Windows, however Windows is still used more for design work then Mac. Unlike on a Windows based PC, Apple typically locks down upgradability, so if you wanted a better system you would have to buy a new system entirely. There are specific systems that apple calls iMac Pro's which offer slightly more upgradability then their typical system, with the latest one allowing you to upgrade the RAM and the CPU, but nothing else. With all of this said, for extensibility, custimizability, and upgradability, Windows is the clear victor, but that doesn't mean MacOS, itself, is bad at all.
