In order to examine the factors that affect the flow of substances across cell membranes permeable bag were partially filled with a fluid. Bag A contains a 30% dye solution (30% dye and 70% water); the bag was tied and had a mass of 100 grams. The bad was then submerged into a larger beaker of pure water, and at 10-minutes intervals, the bad had a mass of 120 grams. The beaker remainded clear. Bag B contained pure water. The bag was tied and had a mass of 100 grams. The bag was then submerged into a large beaker of pure water and at 10-minute intervals, removed from the beaker of water and remaster. After 10 minutes, the bag had a mass of 100 grams. The beaker remaind clear. Problem/question: what was the problem being investigated by the scientists? Hypothesis/prediction: write a hypothesis that these scientists might have had before designing this experiment. Independent variable: what are the scientists changing in this experiment?

silvernight269:

@Ultrilliam

dude:

Well what is affecting what?

silvernight269:

Need desperate help!!!!!!

Ultrilliam:

@JustSaiyan

silvernight269:

@Sazzie ?

silvernight269:

@Falconmaster ?

Falconmaster:

Im retired

silvernight269:

Pls?

silvernight269:

I rly need help

silvernight269:

Ur my best chance rn. Maybe the only best chance

Falconmaster:

the independant varrible thingy is the amount of water and or dye

silvernight269:

There are more questions too. I’m sorry

Falconmaster:

you have to do me a favor

silvernight269:

Anything

Falconmaster:

alright

Angle:

what was the problem being investigated by the scientists? ... the first sentence/paragraph/section thing of this prompt

Falconmaster:

factors that affect the flow of substances across cell membranes permeable bag were partially filled with a fluid.

Angle:

I literally quote: "to examine the factors that affect the flow of substances across cell membranes permeable bag were partially filled with a fluid"

Falconmaster:

is the problem thingy i think

Falconmaster:

I WIN BOI

silvernight269:

I still don’t get it

Falconmaster:

Hypothesis/prediction does the amount of dye to water ratio affect how mass will change

Angle:

ok, what do you not understand?

Angle:

the problem is to examine what factors affect the flow of a substance through cell membranes

silvernight269:

Angle:

I am pretty sure that that is just the same picture three times

silvernight269:

Damn sorry

Angle:

I'm gonna keep copy pasting quotes from the prompt, because all the information you need to answer anything is already provided, you just have to dig/read initial mass of Bag A: "the bag was tied and had a mass of 100 grams" final mass of Bag B: "the bag had a mass of 120 grams" mass difference: 120 - 100 = ? direction of water movement: you ended up with more fluid IN the bag in the end, so point towards the bag

Falconmaster:

you might wanan add the Banana of grams of water and dye to sound smarterer

silvernight269:

Falconmaster:

dumb science

silvernight269:

Actually angel, bag A final mass is 120 grams

Angle:

whoops typo I meant bag A there, you're right, sorry ^_^

silvernight269:

Imma guess the last 3 questions but the other, I need help on

silvernight269:

Angel, then wb the last question

silvernight269:

How should I draw that?

Falconmaster:

in pencil?

silvernight269:

Yea

Angle:

if small amount of dye results in some change then more dye should result in more change

silvernight269:

So arrows inward toward the bad?

Falconmaster:

So like 50% dye and 50% water how will that change the mass

Angle:

yes

Falconmaster:

i think

silvernight269:

Everything inward?

Falconmaster:

let me look at the pictures

silvernight269:

Ok so I have everything but the problem/Question, hypothesis/prediction, and control

Falconmaster:

okay the mas of the water will go up with the more dye that is in there

Falconmaster:

hypothesis is a supposition or proposed explanation made on the basis of limited evidence as a starting point for further investigation

silvernight269:

So how should I write out the hypothesis?

Falconmaster:

"If I give a plant an unlimited amount of sunlight, then the plant will grow to its largest possible size." example of one

Falconmaster:

If more the dye is more than the water then the more mass will incress

silvernight269:

They want me to write a hypothesis about how the scientists had dont this experiment before

Falconmaster:

if the dye is more than *

silvernight269:

Done*

Falconmaster:

The scientist used a differant amount of water and dye each time. If the scientist did not do this experiment before they would not know the effect of dye on the water

Falconmaster:

because he knows the more dye he adds the more mass it will have

silvernight269:

But they want me to write that they might have done before

silvernight269:

For now what do you think the control is?

Falconmaster:

the water or dye but im not sure

silvernight269:

I think it’s bag A and bag B cus the scientists need them for comparison

Falconmaster:

Yes correct

silvernight269:

Ok now I just need to figure out the 1st 2 questions

Falconmaster:

send dem

silvernight269:

1 attachment
silvernight269:

Do you need me to write it?

Falconmaster:

no i should bec goood

Falconmaster:

the questio is how does the amount of dye effect the bag mass

Falconmaster:

the other one is they knew the amount of dye to put in there and the amount of time to put it in there for

silvernight269:

Ok I got it
