My mom came into the room while I was playing video games and sat down in her chair by the window. "Hey mom!" I said, "Could I have some water?" She didn't respond. I'm trying to fight off bad guys, and she's not even responding! Oh...then I realized why she didn't respond. "Mom, could I have some water, PLEASE?" I asked as nicely as I could. Like I said, I'm really trying hard to kill these bad guys and I'm running low on ammunition. "Mom, PLEASE could I have some water?!?" I ask with frustration. Oh no! My character died. Shoot!!

I turn around and say, "Mom!" Then I stop. I swear my mom was just in here a minute ago. She walked behind me and said hello. When did she leave?

So inattention blindness deals with not seeing things in plain sight. He had to turn around to see his mom so she was not in plain sight.

Change blindness deals with changes with changes of visual stimuli not being perceived. So this would be relevant to his video game and not to his mom.

That leaves selective attention and divided attention.
