Neurobiology became an area of research to scientists thanks to A. A need to prove the validity of pseudosciences like astrology and phrenology B. BF Skinner, who created boxes to test the reaction times of cats C. The ability to use machines like MRIs and PET scans to see inside our brains without opening our bodies D. Phineas Gage, the railroad foreman who had a spike driven through his head and survived I believe the answer is D. @shadow

Shadow:

Sure

Shadow:

To me, I know that Skinner is a behaviorist so this isn’t even his field. PET and MRI scans are quite modern and neurobiology existed far before they came about. So it’s between A and D.

Study2Learn:

Okay so.. The reason I think it's D is because back in 1848 an accident occurred with 'Phineas Gage' . The accident occurred due to a railroad Phineas had a dynamite packing rod go through his head. So, when the accident occurred he experienced a complete personality change. After this incident occurred that's when scientists began to study personality and the brain– which was how neuroscience/neurobiology came about.

Study2Learn:

I guess I am right..

Study2Learn:

Also, I was between A and D as well

Shadow:

Do you know what astrology and phrenology are?

Shadow:

Astrology basically says that your personability depends on the orientation of the stars and other celestial bodies at the time of your birth. Phrenology says that your personality depends on the shape of your brain.

Study2Learn:

I think astrology is the study of planets, I'm not really sure what phrenology is

Shadow:

That is astronomy.

Study2Learn:

Ahh

Study2Learn:

Astrology and Phrenology sounds like subjective theories

Study2Learn:

Especially Phrenology.. "your personality depends on the shape of your brain"

Study2Learn:

Like.. what does that even mean. That can't be true XD

Shadow:

At the time, they considered it to be true. There was actually a trick question on my exam relating to phrenology. Good to know what it is haha.

Study2Learn:

Ahh.. that sounds quite interesting to learn about

Shadow:

Personally I would go with D. I’ve tried looking it up but I feel like it’s buried in a textbook somewhere. A is possible, but I think a hole in someone’s head is more plausible.

Study2Learn:

Okay. I'll go with D! My initial choice anyways lol

Shadow:

Mhm, I guess you will still never know if it was the red or not

Study2Learn:

Thanks for the help! :)

Shadow:

Lmao
