Ccallander:

How can a cyclist minimize friction as he or she rides? a. by increasing the weight of the bike b. by increasing the tread on his or her tires c. by decreasing the air resistance d. by decreasing aerodynamic design

Elsa213:

What's `Friction`?

cameron99:

b

cameron99:

fo sho

Elsa213:

Please explain your answer, Cameron99. c: Welcome to QuestionCove. :3

Ccallander:

Thanks! Cameron, why did you get that answer?

cameron99:

its just common since ig lol if your tire is bald theres more friction

Ccallander:

Um..... What do you mean by more common?

cameron99:

i said common lol im not that smart but i know some things

Ccallander:

Um, well I'm sure you are very smart :) Also I'm saying like what do you mean by common? Not more common, just common.

Ultrilliam:

I believe he was trying to say common sense. Increasing the amount of `tread` would decrease the amount of surface area to the ground, as there would be less rubber touching the ground. The less tread there is, the less friction there is to the ground. An example of tread is attached,

what he said

Ccallander:

Thanks @Utrilliam!

sillybilly123:

Common sense ?!?! They're talking about the drag on the rider, as this is what the cyclist wishes to minimise 😂 So c) Removing the tyre tread will **reduce** friction between tire and surface so the bike will skid etc, rider will have no control and ...... etc

Ultrilliam:

^Correct I suppose I didn't point out that the option they chose was inaccurate... huh?

sillybilly123:

Yer not making much sense

Ccallander:

Yeah it was c. Thanks though! :)
