For starters, a 12 episode run is optimal (like, don't go for naruto because it will take you years to finish)
if you say *any* genre, well that's hardest for me to work with because I can't narrow down my list of over 600 different anime I've watched during my lifetime

I would say that some suggestions above may or may not be to your liking... like some may have fan service (i.e. breast bouncing scenes) (example: overlord) or some may have inside jokes you might not understand.

I wasn't lying though, as much as I love Overlord (it is becoming one of my top favorite animes), I won't deny that Albedo exists purely for fan service. One of the first scenes with her in it has breast groping involved. And I'm saying that there are people who might prefer not to see that.

It is also one of the reasons why I may not recommend the anime Food Wars, despite it being very engaging and entertaining; the fan service involved might be too much for some people.
