kittybasil:

I assume the points are on the same line thou- Oh

silvernight269:

Add both numbers then divide by 2

Kaihalojr:

so A

silvernight269:

Yup

kittybasil:

Midpoint formula:\[\frac{(12-(-4))}{2}\]

silvernight269:

No...

kittybasil:

Yes

silvernight269:

12+(-4)/2

kittybasil:

The distance between 12 and -4 is 12-(-4)

kittybasil:

@dude back me up pls

silvernight269:

I just finished that unit! 🤣

kittybasil:

That doesn't make sense though Distance from -4 to 0 is 4 units Distance from 0 to 12 is 12 units 4+12 equals 16

kittybasil:

So if you wanted the midpoint you would divide it in half\[16\div2=8\] The midpoint has to be 8 units away from both -4 and 12

silvernight269:

Oh wait.....

Kaihalojr:

the answer is still 4 because -4 + 8 and 12 - 8 both = 4 correct?

silvernight269:

Yup

silvernight269:

So I was right

kittybasil:

Not the formula lol

kittybasil:

It's absolute value of subtraction usually

Kaihalojr:

either way is the answer the same?

kittybasil:

The answer is correct but the method was in error It's ok though. I just want to make sure you got the concept
