silvernight269:

Well, what’s contrapositive?

kittybasil:

Counterargument

Kaihalojr:

oh nvm i remember this it's a pain

kittybasil:

"switching the hypothesis and conclusion in a way that negates both" Ugh ok that sounds scary

silvernight269:

The statement has to be false

silvernight269:

To be made*

Kaihalojr:

I just search for reverse order and the NOT x'D

Kaihalojr:

that's converse

Kaihalojr:

inverse is normal order with a not and contra is reverse order with a not

kittybasil:

ok it's A Because that is obviously not always true

silvernight269:

So I was right

Kaihalojr:

no guys trust me it's C

kittybasil:

Contrapositive swaps the hypothesis + conclusion in a way that makes it falsse and A does that

Kaihalojr:

BUT

Kaihalojr:

A doesn't make it false

silvernight269:

My bad not false

kittybasil:

Not all congruent angles are vertical tho

kittybasil:

@dude SOS lol

Kaihalojr:

sure that just means the converse is false

Kaihalojr:

B is the INVERSE so that's wrong

kittybasil:

1. Vertical angles are congruent. TRUE 2. Congruent angles are vertical. FALSE

Kaihalojr:

D isn't even an option

silvernight269:

True

kittybasil:

... OH FU-

kittybasil:

FUZZY POTATO

kittybasil:

AAAUGH

silvernight269:

Yea frick

kittybasil:

ok ignore me that was bad advice

kittybasil:

but that says counterexample so idk ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Kaihalojr:

dude can you help us out here i think we're all kinda confused rn

kittybasil:

he's on mobile @SmokeyBrown ?

SmokeyBrown:

I looked up what contrapositive means, and I got something like "the reversal of a premise and conclusion and negation of both premise and conclusion" [For example, the contrapositive of "If it is raining then the grass is wet" is "If the grass is not wet then it is not raining."] So let's take the original statement "If two angles are vertical angles, then they are congruent." Reversing and negating the statement gives us "If two angles are not congruent, then they are not vertical angles" That'd be C, btw

kittybasil:

^ Thank you for the expert opinion

kittybasil:

Now somebody give one of my medals to him

kittybasil:

... uh

Kaihalojr:

I was right

kittybasil:

Yes yes

Kaihalojr:

rip silver's medal x'D

kittybasil:

NOOOO gives silver

silvernight269:

Sorry had no WiFi for a few min
