Find the Contrapositive of the statement: "If two angles are vertical angles, then they are congruent." A) If they are congruent, then two angles are vertical angles. B) If two angles are NOT vertical angles, then they are NOT congruent. C) If two angles are NOT congruent, then they are NOT vertical angles. D) If two are angles are NOT congruent, then they are vertical angles.
Well, what’s contrapositive?
Counterargument
oh nvm i remember this it's a pain
"switching the hypothesis and conclusion in a way that negates both" Ugh ok that sounds scary
The statement has to be false
To be made*
I just search for reverse order and the NOT x'D
that's converse
inverse is normal order with a not and contra is reverse order with a not
ok it's A Because that is obviously not always true
So I was right
no guys trust me it's C
Contrapositive swaps the hypothesis + conclusion in a way that makes it falsse and A does that
BUT
A doesn't make it false
My bad not false
Not all congruent angles are vertical tho
@dude SOS lol
sure that just means the converse is false
B is the INVERSE so that's wrong
1. Vertical angles are congruent. TRUE 2. Congruent angles are vertical. FALSE
D isn't even an option
True
... OH FU-
FUZZY POTATO
AAAUGH
Yea frick
ok ignore me that was bad advice
ok this is what I found when googling it https://www.wyzant.com/resources/answers/44311/if_two_angles_are_vertical_angles_then_they_are_congruent
but that says counterexample so idk ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
dude can you help us out here i think we're all kinda confused rn
he's on mobile @SmokeyBrown ?
I looked up what contrapositive means, and I got something like "the reversal of a premise and conclusion and negation of both premise and conclusion" [For example, the contrapositive of "If it is raining then the grass is wet" is "If the grass is not wet then it is not raining."] So let's take the original statement "If two angles are vertical angles, then they are congruent." Reversing and negating the statement gives us "If two angles are not congruent, then they are not vertical angles" That'd be C, btw
^ Thank you for the expert opinion
Now somebody give one of my medals to him
... uh
I was right
Yes yes
rip silver's medal x'D
NOOOO gives silver
Sorry had no WiFi for a few min
