It's all good till that first h2O connects but the step where you take off h2o's hydrogen using another h2o is wrong, that hydrogen would be attacked by the ether's oxygen which is already there in the molecule.

So it'll be like an intramolecular hydrogen faster

Intramolecular hydrogen transfer happening here would be fast because of the proximity of the ether's oxygen to the attack site whereas the external water molecules won't do it as fast
