Bret threw a baseball up in the air. The following table represents the height f(t), in meters, of the ball above the ground at time t seconds: Time (t) (in seconds) Height f(t) (in meters) 0 3 2 4 4 3 6 0 Which of the following is represented by the y-intercept of f(t)? The ball touches the ground after 6 seconds. The ball was thrown from a height of 3 meters. The ball reaches a maximum height of 4 meters. The ball reaches the maximum height in 2 seconds. Is it A??

dude:

Not quite, the y-intercept is the same as the starting point or when x is 0 Graph isn't very clear but if I am looking at it right it shouldn't be A

nolegirl24:

nolegirl24:

That is the graph

dude:

Okay yes so my statement stays the same It was from where it was thrown

nolegirl24:

Okay so from where it was thrown would be my answer?

nolegirl24:

Cause now my head is scattered.....

dude:

Yes where it was thrown The y-intercept is the original (starting point)

nolegirl24:

So would it be B then?

dude:

Right

nolegirl24:

Okay thanks!!

dude:

No problemo :P
