Due to migration, people in cities were able to construct machines that could yield a high crop output. Due to migration, there was less competition and farmers were able to appropriate large amounts of land for crops.

It seems to me that the second option would really help the farming industry as a whole. I'm just not entirely sure how related "migration from the country to the city" is related to "constructing machinery" to help yield crops. The fourth option seems more related to migration, and I guess it would also benefit the farming industry, so that's what I'd go with
